This exhibition draws from two major modern art collections: the Janice and Henri Lazarof Collection (formed in Los Angeles and donated to LACMA two decades ago) and the Maria and Conrad Janis Collection (recently bequeathed from Sidney Janis's son). The show examines shared affinities between Jean Arp and Paul Klee, two key modern artists. Both rejected conventional academic approaches, instead finding inspiration from folk traditions, children's drawings, and non-European art....
