This international survey traces Buddhism from its Indian origins through its spread across Southeast Asia, the Himalayas, and East Asia. The exhibition features 180 artworks from LACMA's permanent collection and private loans, including sculptures, paintings, and ritual objects. It explores the life of the Buddha, the role of the bodhisattva or Buddhist savior, Buddhist cosmology, and concepts like dharma, karma, nirvana, mantra, mudra, and mandala....
