Rembrandt van Rijn
1606–1669
Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, draughtsman, and printmaker, widely regarded as one of the greatest visual artists in the history of Western art. Working primarily in Amsterdam, he produced an extensive body of portraits, self-portraits, landscapes, genre scenes, and biblical and mythological scenes notable for their psychological depth and masterful use of light and shadow.
