Yin Xiuzhen: Heart to Heart

17 February 2026 to 31 May 2026

Ended

Yin Xiuzhen works with the material residue of everyday life — secondhand clothing, food, concrete — to build immersive environments that examine what connects and separates people within globalised society. This first major UK survey brings together 30 years of seminal projects alongside new commissions.

From Hayward Gallery

Yin Xiuzhen is renowned for her use of secondhand clothing, concrete, food and household ephemera in her immersive installations and sculptures. She creates multimedia artworks that negotiate the spaces between memories, individuals and the globalised societies that we live in today. Drawing on over 30 years of creation, the exhibition brings together a selection of the artist’s seminal projects alongside a number of new commissions, and is the first major UK survey of her work.

So on-the-nose it gives you a nosebleed

"There's no criticism, no depth, no point to its use in these works. Here's some old T-shirts turned into Big Ben. Ta-dah. You have to create your own meaning here, because the artist can't really be bothered."
