Jean Arp

French, German · 1886–1966

French-German artist and poet who was a founding member of Dada in Zurich in 1916, later associated with Surrealism and Constructivism. Arp developed a vocabulary of soft, rounded biomorphic forms across sculpture, relief, and collage, expressing his interest in natural growth, chance, and the unconscious.
