Women Artists of Hampstead
21 January 2026 to 13 December 2026
A Heath Room display of women who lived and worked in Hampstead as the profession opened up to them, including Helen Allingham, Kate Greenaway and Mary Hill, who took up illustration. Free entry.
From Burgh House
The works in this room bring together a group of artists who lived and worked in Hampstead during a period when the profession was gradually opening up to include women in far greater numbers. By turning to illustration, artists such as Helen Allingham (1848 – 1926), Kate Greenaway (1846 – 1901) and later, Mary Hill (1868 – 1947) found a platform that allowed their work to reach wide audiences and shape the visual tastes of their time.
