Japanese-American artist, musician, and activist whose conceptual practice has operated since the late 1950s through instruction-based scores, participatory events, and language. A founding figure of Fluxus and a close collaborator of John Lennon, her early works including Grapefruit and Cut Piece positioned her at the centre of avant-garde art history.
