Thomas J Price

Thomas J Price (b. 1981, London) is a British sculptor known for monumental bronzes of fictional, everyday Black figures that challenge the conventions of public statuary. He studied at Chelsea College of Art and the Royal College of Art. His public works include Reaching Out, Warm Shores and Grounded in the Stars in Times Square.

A 5.5-metre bronze of a young woman in a T-shirt, jeans and trainers, phone in hand but gazing past it towards the horizon. Composited from found images, 3D scans and observation, it greets visitors at the entrance to V&A East Museum.
